Mission Statement
The Bulldogs Care Foundation was founded in memory of four Yale University Bulldogs and seeks to support disadvantaged youth as they pursue personal development through programs in athletics, education and mentoring.

The Bulldogs Care Foundation

We founded the Bulldogs Care Foundation (BCF) to support young men and women as they pursue personal development through programs in athletics, education, and mentoring. In all that we do, the Foundation seeks to embody

the passion, spirit, and sense of community and friendship of four Yale University Bulldogs - Kyle, Andrew, Nick and Sean who lost their lives one terrible night.

Through our fundraising efforts, we aim to help those so powerful in potential yet without the proper financial or community support behind them. We celebrate the legacy of our friends by doing all that we can for a better tomorrow one young person at a time.

Help Make a Difference
We encourage you to join us as we continue to develop a community built around lending assistance to underserved children and young men and women. While we lost our friends in the prime of their youth, it is through your support that we can invest in the future of today's children and keep alive the spirit of our fellow Bulldogs.

It is with the same sense of community they shared with us that we give our time and energy to BCF. We warmly invite you to become a part of our community. If you wish to learn more about ways you can volunteer and get involved, please click here.

Quick Fact: Research demonstrates that participation in various structured out of school time contexts benefits youth socially, emotionally, and academically and may have the most positive effects for youth who are most at risk (Harvard Family Research Project, March 2006).

The Accident
On January 17, 2003, the Yale University community was devastated by the deaths of four of its finest young men, Kyle Burnat, Andrew Dwyer, Sean Fenton and Nick Grass, as a result of a car accident on a dark and icy northeast winter night. These students were not just anyone to us; they were our best friends, teammates and fraternity brothers.

"This [was] as black a day as I've seen", said Richard Brodhead, former Yale University Dean, who added, "these were young people in their prime, people who had everything in front of them." Those words were devastatingly accurate to us all, and we would hope that the pain of that day and loss of such bright futures should not have to be experienced by anyone. We decided, as a group, to honor the lives of our friends by working to ensure young men and women are given the tools to maximize the great opportunities for success and happiness in their lives.

Please click here to learn more about the events of that devastating day.

Please meet Kyle Burnat, Andrew Dwyer, Sean Fenton and Nicholas Grass. We hope they will live on through the Bulldogs Care Foundation.
