Dear Friends and Family:
In the first year of the existence of the Bulldogs Care Foundation (BCF),
you have helped us accomplish many great things. We thank you for your
continued support of our mission to help disadvantaged youth pursue personal
growth through athletic, educational and mentoring programs. Together,
we have kept alive the spirit and passion of our dear friends and Yale
University classmates Andrew, Kyle, Nick and Sean by creating this inspiring
and positive organization.
We would like to extend our gratitude to everybody who attended our
inaugural fundraising event, Tip Off To Success. We also want to send a special
thanks to the Board of Directors and Event Committee, whose dedication and
hard work were integral to creating a memorable and meaningful night. We
hope you will continue to celebrate with us at our second annual
fundraising event on Thursday, September 25, 2008 at the Altman
Building in Manhattan .
We are excited to announce that your donations have helped fund a
Student-Athlete Summer Academy and contributed to the Yale
Scholarship Fund. Statistics show that during the summer, disadvantaged
youth fall further behind academically than their more advantaged peers—
due, in part, to a lack of enriching opportunities. Positive academic and athletic
experiences, such as the Summer Academy, create the types of development
opportunities these children are missing. In addition, through sports,
children can also assume leadership roles, learn to handle conflict and manage
their time, bond with new friends and improve relationships with adults,
all valuable skills the Summer Academy provides.
While we are making progress, there remains much to be done. 100 student-athletes will attend the Summer Academy in 2008, but we realize that
there are many more students with a dire need for summer enrichment opportunities.
We hope you will join BCF in creating these opportunities for local
youth in New York City by doubling our grant to the Summer Academy in 2009.
Sincerely,
Bulldogs Care Foundation
